Michael Winters’ Group

Michael Winters teaches two Continuing Education Classes through the ANU at Strathnairn Arts. His students study three artists a semester following a different theme.

This semester, the morning group looked at Gustav Klimt, Dorrit Black and Claude Monet, From Flowers to Foliage.

The afternoon afternoon group studied Edouard Vuillard, Jean Appleton and Justin O’Brien. The theme for the afternoon group was From Flowers to Fruit.

Each artist has contributed one or two paintings which show how they have been influenced by Michael and the artists studied.

Different Strokes

Originally formed by students of Michael Winters after Michael moved to Dubbo, as we enjoyed working as a group and wished to continue painting together, Different Strokes have now been painting at Strathnairn Arts every Wednesday for twelve years.

The 17 current members meet every Wednesday in the Village Hall to exchange ideas and experiment with different mediums and styles. They hope the work produced will be enjoyed by and inspire others.

The Gumnuts

A collective of 25 enthusiastic artists who meet regularly at Strathnairn Arts to paint and draw in a supportive atmosphere and where they can focus totally on their work without day-to-day interruptions.

The group meets each Tuesday in the Village Hall and their work is not only enhanced by the sharing of skills and knowledge but also progressed by occasional guest tutors to inspire and develop their artistic skills. Many of the artists have had work accepted in regional and national exhibitions and are well known in the Canberra area.
