Artists’ Statement

The Different Strokes Art Group enjoy our Wednesdays in the Village Hall where we exchange ideas and experiment with different mediums and styles. The theme of our exhibition is based on “Our Environment” which can be interpreted in many ways. Some artists have produced works that reflect the environment around them, which can be their home environment, Strathnairn and surrounds, or featuring flora and fauna and our landscape generally. All the paintings are either acrylic or oils on the same size canvas. We hope that the work produced will be enjoyed by and inspire others.

Our group has been painting at the Strathnairn Village Hall every Wednesday for twelve years. The original group was formed by students of Michael Winters, after Michael moved to Dubbo, as we enjoyed working as a group and wished to continue painting together. Some of the original members have left the group and we have been joined by other artists looking to share their passion for art. There are currently 17 members in the group.
