Botanical Colour

14th August to 15th September, 2024

Homestead Gallery 2

I’m interested in ways that colours act as primary agents for seeing and negotiating with our surroundings. How we sense forces in nature through their affect in our bodies. These observations from daily life stay with me in the studio.

Since 2020, I’ve been making paintings with organic pigments and dyes from traditional and sustainable extracts, distilled in the Strathnairn studio. My instinct to follow this line of practice, initially related to biological sensitivities in the local surroundings. This research, has opened up a fresh sensory engagement with tangible and visual potential in organic colour substances.
