Strathnairn Arts to reopen with annual open exhibition SQUARES 2020,
and welcomes new cafe operator Cafe Stepping Stone.
Strathnairn Arts will open its doors to the public again at 10 am Thursday the 30th of July 2020. With social distancing restrictions safely in place, visitors will again be able to visit the popular arts precinct, view the exhibitions, take in the stunning views of the Brindabellas and enjoy coffee, lunch and cakes at the new Cafe Stepping Stone.
A well-loved tradition this is the 14th year of Strathnairn Art’s SQUARES open exhibition, which is open to entries from experienced and budding artists from around Australia.
As well as being hung in the Homestead Galleries SQUARES 2020 entries will be exhibited online, so the public can view and vote from home for their favourite entry.
The opening of SQUARES 2020 happily coincides with the launch of a new cafe, Café Stepping Stone. Café Stepping Stone is a vegetarian kitchen operating out of Strathnairn Arts Homestead, (with an emphasis on locally grown and ethical produce.
Owners Hannah and Vanessa have recently returned home from Cartagena, Colombia where they ran a successful café focussed on the values of community inclusion, opportunity and sustainability. Values they hope to infuse into their new venture in Canberra.
The cafe will be open Thursday to Sunday 10am - 4pm and serve coffee, tea, vegetarian pies, sausage rolls, salad, soup, toasties and a selection of gourmet cakes all made on site. Dietary requirements will also be catered for.
