Val Johnson
Meandering around the Murray
28 February to 24 March, 2024
Homestead Gallery 1
This exhibition will present a new body of work by contemporary painter Val Johnson, depicting scenes from the Murray River and focusing on the patterns and shapes that emerge from the landscape.
Val has made multiple visits to the river in 2023, exploring the differences in landscape and seasons between the Murray from Mildura near Tintaldra, NSW, down to Yarrawonga in Victoria.
Working en plain air, Val made drawings and sketches before returning to the studio to complete a new series in oils and gouache.
