BeAN Artists represent a wide range of artistic skills and techniques which mirror individual different life experiences, including sculptures in both wood and metal, glass, encaustic, textiles, oil and acrylic paintings, drawings and mixed media, computer graphics and photography.
Luminosity, the interplay of light and shadow, is an analogy of what life is about. The light and the darker moments are both interesting, beautiful and necessary to explore meanings, illuminating our souls. Luminosity is associated with the atmospheric changes of light, the emission or reflection of glowing light, being bathed in or exposed to steady light. It also carries a sense of mood, inner revelation or moments of discovery, a shining. Luminosity can reveal something extra to the natural or man-made environment using artificial light to emphasise an element or shape. It can carry mood and expression from deep in the image as the glancing light that highlights a silhouette’s edge to separate it from its surrounds. It can also be used to unite points on the picture plane, a focal point, or allow a shadowy background to subsume the rest.
This exhibition will express ‘Luminosity’ through a myriad of interpretations revealing how we are inspired by nature and the human experience.
