Ajith Perera is an emerging artist based in Canberra whose practice is centred on drawing. Inspired by Surrealism, Ajith frequently uses automatism as a starting point for his drawings in ink, a medium he prefers due to its versatility and expressive qualities.
Inspired by the bizarre and esoteric, the work of Marlene Dumas, Bill Henson, Michelle Kingdom and Outsider artists, Ajith’s drawings typically contain a sinister or unsettling element – reflecting his interest in exploring the subconscious.
