Sharon Goddard

Coast

Gallery 1

5 July - 30 July, 2023

Emerging artist Sharon Goddard explores the connection between people and the sea in her new exhibition, Coast. In a series of pastel works, Goddard investigates her fascination with the movement of water and the keen loss felt during recent periods of lockdown, unable to visit. Working from memory and photographs, Goddard’s drawings describe the artist’s interest in the infinite differences of each wave and its subsequent impact on the coastline. By using pastels, Goddard references the work of Degas and Renoir, exploring their robust lightfast properties and drawing on the purity and vibrancy of colour.
