Naomi Eburn

Strathnairn's Artist in Residence Naomi Eburn explores the balance and tension between the technique of throwing and the gestural treatment of surface. Large brushstrokes and fine sgraffito marks in earthy tones are her intuitive response to the natural world.

Momentum focuses on the experience of making as a means to link material, body and earth. It is about capturing the inertia of nature and our lives, and embodying it in the clay. Eburn explores the balance and tension between the technique of throwing and the gestural treatment of surface.

Large brushstrokes and fine sgraffito marks in earthy tones are her intuitive response to the natural world.The vases are reminiscent of the female form as a representation of both the artist and the feminine aspect of nature. Eburn throws large scale to challenge her physical capacity and to create works with strong presence.
